It is circulated to all members of KAAGD and consists of original research, clinical articles, reviews, case reports, and other materials on dental science and related subjects. If the manuscript didn‟t belong to the type listed above, an authorized publication committee has the right to deliber- ate about „publication allowed‟ or „publication not allowed‟.

Aim and Scope

Journal of Korean Academy of Advanced General Den- tistry (JKAAGD) is the official publication of the Korean Academy of Advanced General Dentistry. It was first laun- ched in August 2012 (ISSN 2287-559x). As an open access, peer reviewed journal, JKAAGD aims to publish clinical and sci- entific research papers based on evidence-based investiga- tions within all areas of contemporary dental practice. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports, technical reports, and short communications from the readers in subjects related with comprehensive dentistry

Manuscript Submission

Submitted manuscripts must be written in Korean or English. Manuscripts are subject to peer review process fol- lowed by editorial revision. For consideration of publication in JKAAGD, authors should follow the submission guide- lines below. By submitting a paper authors agree that the work has not been published before and is not being consid- ered for publication elsewhere. Each reader must determine whether to act on the information contained in the publica- tion, and neither JKAAGD nor its sponsoring organizations shall be liable for any injury or damage occurred due to the publication of erroneous information. Manuscripts should be word-processed and submitted by online submission system. The body of the text, not including the abstract, references, tables, or illustrations, should not exceed 15 pages in length for research articles, and 7 pages for clinical articles. Figures and tables should be supplied as separate files. Remove all evidence of authorship from an electronic submission file, in order to expedite the review process. Terms in manuscripts in Korean should be listed in Dental Terminology edited by Korean Academy of Dental Sciences and Korean Dental Association. Manuscripts will normally be reviewed by the editor-in- chief and at least two reviewers with expertise within the scope of the article. The final publication decision lies with the Editorial Board. Accepted manuscripts will be copy edited according to the Journal style and returned to the au- thor for approval before publication. Authors are responsible for all statements made in their work, including changes made by the copy editor. The pub- lisher reserves the right to edit accepted manuscripts to en- sure conciseness, clarity, and stylistic consistency, subject to the author‟s final approval. More detailed information will be notified with an acceptance letter.

Proofs and Reprints

The corresponding author will receive pages of proofs, which should be proofread and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Corrections are limited to publisher‟s errors; no substantial author‟s changes will be made without charge. Reprints can be ordered from the publisher. The publisher does not stock reprints; however, back issues can be pur- chased.

Ethics

Typescripts that contain the results of human or animal studies will be accepted for publication only if it is made clear that a high standard of ethics was applied in carrying out the investigations. In the case of invasive studies using human subjects, manuscripts should include a statement that the research protocol was approved by the local ethics committee. For the publication ethics not stated in this in- struction, „Good Publication Practice Guidelines for Medi- cal Journals (http://kamje.or.kr/publishing_ethics.html)‟ or „Guidelines on good publication (http://www.publicatio- nethics.org.uk/guidelines)‟ can be applied.

Manuscript Style and Structure

The manuscript should be composed in this order; title, author(s), abstract, key words, material and methods, result, discussion, conclusion, references, legends for illustrations and figures. 1. Title and author(s)
Put the title of the article, and include all the information pertaining to the author(s) such as full names(s) of author(s), academic degrees, institutional affiliations and positions; iden- tify the corresponding author and include an address, tele- phone, fax numbers and an e-mail address. State the source of research funding, if any, at the lower part.

2. Abstract
A structured abstract of 250~300 words or less is pre- ferred. Briefly state the purpose of the study, materials and methods, result and conclusion. At the bottom of the abs- tract, provide up to less than six keywords that best describe the content of the study. Select them preferably form the list of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) used by the National Library of Medicine.

3. Introduction
State the objective and the background of the study. Au- thor may refer to literature, but excessive review is strongly discouraged.

4. Materials and Methods
Describe the experimental design procedures and material/ subjects used. Give the details only if the methods are origi- nal or essential for understanding; otherwise, give referenc- es. Patients, tested animals and the control group should be stated clearly. In particular, the means to identify the subject disease and to control the author‟s subjective views should be explained. The names and manufacturers of the devic- es, materials and reagents for the test should be included in parenthesis. The authors should describe the generic name, dosage, and administration method of drug and chemical agents used. The patients‟ private information should not be exposed. The human study and animal research should be approved by local ethics committee. Indicate the statistical methods used, if applicable.

5. Result
Present essential results with a minimum of discussion. Use tables, charts and photographs to clarify the finding. State the statistical data properly. All measurements should be expressed in metric units, or metric equivalents may appear in parentheses after the original measurements.

6. Discussion
Indicate the significance of the data and the limitations. Interpretation of the results should be clearly explained. Do not repeat the contents of introduction in this section. It should not exceed one half of the entire articles length. Spec- ulate the findings in light of other reports, including opposing views in order to limit bias. Extensions of the study may be suggested in the last paragraph.

7. Conclusion
Briefly state a clear conclusion of the study. Do not re- peat the results in this section.

8. References
The number should be listed in the text, numbered in or- der of appearance and the superscripts for them are required. The authors should be listed surname first, followed by capital initials of give names. Journal titles should be abbre- viated according to Index Medicus. If there are six or less authors in a reference, then all the names of the authors should be listed. If the number of authors is more than six, list the initial six authors and then abbreviate the rest of the authors with 'et al'. Follow the format for references in “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Bio- medical Journals” (Ann Intern Med 1997;126:36-47); http:// www.icmje.org. The titles of journals should be abbreviated according to the style used in Index Medicus. Ensure the ref- erences are presented in the proper style and format.

9. Photographs and illustrations
Submit associated image files to the electronic submis- sion. Do not embed photographs and/or illustrations in the body of the text, but indicate the location of the photographs and/or illustrations within the text. Images are preferred to be in JPG, TIFF, EPS, or PDF for- mat (MS Office artwork is also acceptable with high resolu- tion of minimum 300 dpi for halftones, 100 dpi for line art, and 500 dpi for combination) CMYK or grayscale, at least 5 inches wide and at least 118 pixels per cm (300 pixels per inch). Disqualified images may affect the editorial decision upon acceptance, or may cause a delay of publication.

10. Legends of photographs and illustrations
Legends should be written in English on a separate page. When symbols, arrows, numbers, or letters are used to iden- tify parts of the photographs and illustrations, identify and explain each one clearly in the legend. If a figure has been previously published, the legend should fully acknowledge the original source. Ensure all the figures have been men- tioned sequentially in the text.

11. Tables and Graphs
Do not embed tables in the body of the text. Number ta- bles consecutively in the order in which they are cited in the text and provide a brief title for each. Be sure that each table is cited in the text. Explain all nonstandard abbreviations in footnotes. If a table has been previously published, include a footnote giving full acknowledgement to the original source. Statistical measures of variation should be identified in the column headings.

Rights, Permissions and Patient consent

Illustrations or tables that have previously appeared in copyrighted material must be accompanied by written per-mission for their use from the copyright holder and original author, and the legend must properly acknowledge the original source. Photographs of patients or human subjects should be accompanied by written informed consent for publication signed by the person (or parent or guardian of minors). Each statement must be on a separate page, includ- ing the manuscript title and all authors‟ names. Informed consent forms, available for download in the online submis- sion system, should be signed by the patients(or parent or guardian of minors), scanned digitally, and then uploaded at the time of manuscript submission. This step is strictly required for submission of all case reports.

copyright Release

All manuscripts must be accompanied by the Copyright Release Form signed by one of the authors acting on behalf of all of the authors: “The undersigned author agrees to transfer all copyright ownership of the manuscript [title of the article] to the Korean Academy of Advanced General Dentistry in case of publication. The undersigned author warrants that the manuscript is original, has not been published or under consideration elsewhere, and does not infringe any copyright of any third party”. Download the Copyright Release Form from the online submission system. Once the form is signed by one of the authors, it should be scanned digitally and uploaded in the designated copyright transfer section during manuscript submission.

conflict of interest Statement

Authors should report all financial and personal relation- ships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest. Such information will be confidential, and will not be available to reviewers. If the manuscript is accepted and published, the information will be disclosed with the ar- ticle. Guest editorials, review articles, and communications should not imply any conflict of interest. Once the Conflict of Interest Statement Form is down- loaded from the website, fill out the document with the corresponding author‟s signature, then scan and upload the completed form during manuscript submission.

Fees for Publication and Extra Publication

By submission of manuscripts the authors agree to pay for publication, if accepted, and extra publication, if applicable. Delinquency in payment of the fee may result in delay in publication of the article.
